The field app

One Android app at every site. Each scan, weight and photo becomes a signed event that links to the one before it, so the shopper at the end sees the whole chain.

  1. Secure sign-in: registered device M-0417, a signing key held on the phone and the registered site, unlocked with a fingerprint or passkey

    Secure sign-in

    Each phone is registered to a person and a site, and holds their signing key. A fingerprint or passkey unlocks it; if a phone is lost, the key is revoked and everything it already signed stays valid.

    Staff see what’s expected at their site. With no signal, the app keeps working and signs events on the device, then syncs them later.

  3. Scan result: label read and signature valid, with label, transit and duplicate checks, and the custody so far

    Scanning a custody label checks the signature, that the lot really left the last site, and that the label hasn’t been scanned somewhere else.

  4. Check-in form: 301.4 kg read from the dock scale, drum count, trailer temperature, tamper seals, photos, and the device, GPS and time recorded automatically

    The weight comes straight from the Bluetooth scale, and staff add counts, seal numbers and photos. The device, GPS and time are recorded automatically.

  5. Checked in and signed: the event chained to the previous hash, split into 12 drum labels ready to print

    The event is signed and chained to the previous hash. The lot splits into one label per drum, printed on the spot.

  6. What the shopper sees
